Hampson & Mealey

Commercial Storage Lancashire

Commercial storage should make a business easier to run. It should free up expensive working space, protect stock or equipment, and give the business a reliable place to keep goods without committing to larger premises. Hampson & Mealey provides practical commercial storage in rural Lancashire with the option to combine storage with transport, pallet delivery and exhibition logistics.

Our commercial storage customers are not all using storage for the same reason. Some need pallet storage because their premises are full. Some need equipment storage between jobs. Some need exhibition equipment storing, delivering, recovering and storing again. Others simply need dependable long-term space at a sensible price with people they can actually speak to.

Why commercial customers stay

One of our longest-running storage customers stayed for around two and a half years. Price brought them in originally, but convenience, reliability and a friendly working relationship are what keep customers. In commercial storage, the decision is rarely just about container size. Businesses want to know that access is straightforward, communication is easy and the supplier will do what they say.

That is why we avoid trying to look like a national self-storage chain. Our advantage is different: rural location, privacy, flexible conversations, sensible pricing, personal service and the ability to connect storage with transport when required.

Storage as part of business operations

Domestic storage is often temporary. Commercial storage is different. As long as the customer’s business continues to operate, storage can become part of the cost of doing business. We have had commercial customers using significant space for long periods, including a customer with around 66m³ of storage and another storing 24 pallets continuously in a 40ft container.

For many businesses, this is cheaper and easier than taking on larger premises. Space inside a shop, restaurant, workshop or office has a value. If that space can be used for trading, working or serving customers, then storage elsewhere can make financial sense.

Do not be distracted by short-term storage deals

Storage is not difficult to get right, but businesses should be careful with short-term offers that look attractive at first and become expensive later. The real question is not always the first month’s price. It is what the arrangement costs over the period you are actually likely to need it, and whether the access and service suit your business.

We prefer straightforward pricing and long-term relationships. Commercial customers tend to value reliability once the arrangement becomes part of their operation. A slightly cheaper introductory offer is not much use if access is awkward, transport is separate or the relationship becomes frustrating.

What we can store

We can support a range of commercial storage requirements including palletised goods, exhibition stands, event equipment, catering equipment, office furniture, tools, business stock and overflow items. We have stored unusual items too, including a giant anvil and classic cars, but the main commercial opportunity is usually much more practical: businesses that need space and want the process to be easy.

For palletised goods, access matters. Pallet storage is one of the areas traditional self-storage warehouses can struggle with because many facilities are designed around household customers rather than commercial movements. Where artic access, containers or transport coordination matter, a more practical site can be a better fit.

Storage with transport available

The strongest commercial storage relationships often include transport. Exhibition equipment can be stored, delivered to Manchester, Birmingham or further afield, recovered after the event and returned to storage. Palletised goods can be held until they are ready for delivery. Equipment can be collected, stored and redeployed when needed.

That combination is central to the future of Hampson & Mealey. Storage is the core, and haulage or logistics support makes the storage more useful. If you need commercial storage in Lancashire and would also benefit from transport support, speak to us about the full requirement rather than only the container.

Practical commercial storage without the warehouse feel

Commercial storage does not need to feel like a national self-storage warehouse. Many customers value price, privacy, a relaxed rural site, personal service and the ability to combine storage with transport when required.

Why Commercial Customers Stay For Years

Commercial storage customers behave differently to household customers. Once a business finds storage that is affordable, reliable and easy to access, they rarely want the disruption of moving elsewhere. One of our longest-running customers has remained with us for over two and a half years. Competitive pricing brought them in initially, but reliability, convenience and personal service are what kept them here.

Pallet Storage That Actually Works

Pallet storage is surprisingly difficult to source for many businesses. Traditional self-storage sites are usually designed around individual units rather than palletised stock and often struggle with access requirements. We regularly work with businesses that need practical storage for stock, equipment and materials without the complexity of larger warehousing contracts.

Storage And Transport Together

Many customers require more than storage alone. They need deliveries, collections, exhibition logistics or commercial transport. By combining storage and transport support, we can simplify logistics and reduce the number of suppliers a business has to manage.
