Local does not mean easy
A move 100 metres away can involve almost the same labour as a move 100 miles away. The furniture still needs protecting, carrying, loading and unloading. The washing machine does not become lighter because the new house is nearby.
Long-distance customers usually respect the move before it starts. Local customers are more likely to think it can be treated casually, which can make the job harder.
The labour is the hard part
Driving is often the easy half of a move. The physical labour is where the cost, risk and time sit. That is why packing, access and preparation matter whether the move is across Preston or across the country.
