Downsizing is about lost space

Customers rarely say, “I have too much stuff.” More often they say, “it won’t fit” or “all the rooms are full already.” That distinction matters.

Many downsizers have already got rid of a lot before moving. The problem is that the new property has less volume: fewer cupboards, no garage, a smaller loft, no spare room or less outside storage.

Accept the reduction early

The sooner customers accept the reduction in space, the easier the move becomes. Storage, clearance and furniture decisions are all easier before moving day than after the new home is full.
